Oxidized Silver

Oxidized Silver is smokey and softer in appearance than highly polished silver. Oxidized silver appears more antique and displays the unique characteristics of a piece worn over time. It is less glittery than highly polished silver and therefore appears to have less hard edges.

How Does Oxidation Occur?

Oxidation is caused by exposure of the silver to oxygen. Naturally, this takes years to occur, however, modern jewelry can be purchased already oxidized.

How Do You Clean Oxidized Jewelry?

Clean oxidized silver as you would typical silver jewelry. The modern oxidation process is such that the look will remain intact with normal cleaning and polishing. Do not use tarnish remover gel. Use a dry polishing cloth to polish.

To clean use luke warm soapy water. Don't use hot water. Gently Dry with a non coarse towel.
